Gold vermeil is crafted from a base of sterling silver, finished with a thick layer of 18ct gold bonded to the surface through electroplating. By definition, true vermeil must use sterling silver as its base and a gold layer of at least 2.5 microns, ensuring greater durability and a higher-quality finish than standard gold plating.

At Rachel Entwistle, we use 18ct gold vermeil to create beautifully considered pieces that offer the richness and warmth of solid gold, while remaining a more accessible alternative.

Designed for everyday wear, gold vermeil is both durable and hypoallergenic. As with all plated jewellery, the gold layer will naturally soften over time, gradually revealing the silver beneath - this is most noticeable on rings and pieces subject to frequent contact.

Many of our designs are also available in 9ct and 18ct solid gold. If your chosen piece isn’t listed, please contact us at info@rachelentwistle.co.uk with the piece you have in mind, including your preferred gold carat and colour, and we will provide a quote and confirm whether it can be made in solid gold. We’re also happy to provide quotes for other precious metals, such as platinum.

Customisable designs are existing Rachel Entwistle pieces that can be adjusted to suit you. Options include selecting a different gold carat, choosing alternative gemstones, altering ring widths, adjusting chain lengths, or adding an engraving - allowing you to create a personalised version of a design.

Bespoke designs offer a truly exclusive experience, where a completely unique piece is created just for you. From the first consultation, our design team will collaborate closely with you, guiding you through every step of the creative process, from selecting materials to refining the design, ensuring your vision is brought to life as a one-of-a-kind work of art. Pricing varies depending on materials and complexity, reflecting the craftsmanship involved.

Yes, we can exchange silver and gold vermeil rings for another size, provided it’s a size we stock and can make. The returned ring must be unworn and in perfect condition.

On solid gold rings we offer one complimentary resize up to two sizes (up or down) on all solid gold rings within two months of purchase, provided the ring is returned in its original condition. For adjustments beyond two sizes, a resizing fee will apply. Please get in touch if you have a specific sizing enquiry.

Eternity rings are not able to be resized due to the nature of the design.

If the ring doesn’t fit, we can exchange silver and gold vermeil rings for the correct size as long as the new size required is a standard size we make and provided the original ring is unworn and in perfect condition.

We offer repairs for Rachel Entwistle pieces only, where possible. Please visit our store or contact us at info@rachelentwistle.co.uk with a photo of the issue. Once we’ve assessed the piece, we will let you know whether a repair is possible and provide the available options along with a quote.

Yes, we offer replating services on all our products. Please contact us to arrange this service or receive a quote.

To ensure the longevity of your jewellery, we recommend storing each piece separately to prevent scratches. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and water. To clean, gently polish with a soft cloth and store in a cool, dry place. Please see our jewellery care page for more information.
